Meredith Martin Addy, co-founder and partner at intellectual property and corporate litigation firm AddyHart P.C., is a featured speaker at IPWatchdog’s 3rd annual Patent Litigation Masters 2023, May 15-17, 2023, at the IPWatchdog Studios in Ashburn, Virginia.
Patent Litigation Masters 2023 focuses on the most active federal district courts and on appeals to the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, exploring damages, patent eligibility, venue, injunctions, and more. Addy joins the May 15 panel, “Improving and Streamlining Patent Enforcement in America,” which addresses how the US patent system could be streamlined for patentees, as US patent-holders have since passage of the America Invents Act faced a double burden: different standards along with inconsistent rulings for challenges filed at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), the International Trade Commission (ITC), and in federal district court.”
Other panelists include the Hon. Paul R. Michel, Chief Judge (ret.) of the Federal Circuit; Matthew Rizzolo, partner at Ropes & Gray; Wendy Verlander, managing shareholder at Verlander LLP; and Todd Walters, chair of the patent office litigation practice, and co-chair of the IP section at Buchanan, Ingersoll & Rooney.
Meredith Addy co-founded AddyHart P.C. in 2019 with long-time colleague Robert P. Hart. She has handled more than 80 appeals to the Federal Circuit and more than 80 cases in US district courts, and she has testified to the US Congress on the state of patent law and the Federal Circuit. Addy has held leadership positions at several AmLaw 100 law firms, and she has received multiple accolades—including being the only female attorney named to Band 1 for IP Law in Illinois from Chambers USA for multiple years in succession—along with high rankings from Best Lawyers, Super Lawyers, and IP Stars. Addy has been named one of the Top 250 Women in IP from Managing IP and IPmetrics LLC, as one of the Most Influential Women in IP Law by IP Law360, as one of Law360’s Female Powerbrokers, and to the IAM 1000.
Other sessions at Patent Litigation Masters 2023 feature the perspectives of IP attorneys, in-house counsel, and members of the judiciary, with attendees including Judge Ryan Holte of the US Court of Federal Claims; Vice Chief Judge Michael Tierney, Administrative Patent Judge of the PTAB (invited); and retired ITC Administrative Law Judge Theodore Essex.
