Meredith Martin Addy, co-founder and a partner at intellectual property and corporate litigation firm AddyHart P.C., has for the sixteenth year in a row been ranked in Best Lawyers in America by U.S. News & World Report, in its 2022 edition of the “Best Law Firms” rankings. AddyHart P.C. is nationally ranked in Tier 3 nationally for Patent Law and in Tier 2 for Litigation – Patent and Patent Law in Chicago.
Annual rankings from U.S. News & World Report include an elite group of attorneys, and recognition from Best Lawyers is one of the most sought-after rankings in the legal field. Firms included in the 2022 Edition are recognized for professional excellence with consistently impressive ratings from clients and peers. A tiered ranking signals a unique combination of quality law practice and breadth of legal expertise.
Addy has been included in the annual Best Lawyers rankings every year from 2007 until this year. She has received multiple legal industry accolades, including for much of the last decade being the only female attorney named to Band 1 for IP Law in Illinois by Chambers USA. Addy has handled more than 80 cases in US district courts and more than 100 appeals to the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and she has held leadership positions at several AmLaw 100 law firms and has testified to the US Congress on the state of patent law and the Federal Circuit. Law360 has named her one of the Most Influential Women in IP Law.
According to independent research cited in Law360 in 2021, Addy is one of five female private-sector litigators who have argued most frequently before the Federal Circuit in the last decade, and one of only two of the five licensed to practice before the USPTO. Experienced in protecting and monetizing corporate intellectual asset portfolios, Meredith in 2015 also earned her M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Addy co-founded AddyHart P.C. in January 2019 with fellow intellectual property attorney and litigator Robert P. Hart.
